What is Leisure Education?
Leisure Education (L. Ed.) is one of the many programs available at the Independent Living Resource Centre. L. Ed. is a consumer-directed program where leisure buddies and the program consultant work with individuals in the program to achieve individual leisure goals. This premise of consumer control is what distinguishes the program from other adult day models on the community. Consumers gain valuable independent living skills and access to information and supports to fully participate in leisure activities in the community. Upon successful achievement of individually specified goals, consumers then graduate with a unique set of skills for further community participation.
